LAWRENCE LENHART studied writing at the University of Pittsburgh and holds an MFA from the University of Arizona. His essay collections include The Well-Stocked and Gilded Cage (Outpost19, 2016), Backvalley Ferrets: A Rewilding of the Colorado Plateau (University of Georgia, 2023), and Of No Ground: Small Island/Big Ocean Contingencies (West Virginia University, 2024). He is the co-author, with William Cordeiro, of Experimental Writing: A Writer's Guide and Anthology (Bloomsbury, 2023). His prose appears in journals like Creative Nonfiction, Fourth Genre, Gulf Coast, Passages North, and Prairie Schooner. He has been recognized by the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and his essays have been listed as notable in the Best American Essays series (2015, 2016, and 2018). He is Associate Chair and Associate Professor of English at Northern Arizona University, where he teaches fiction, nonfiction, literary editing and publishing, and climate science narratives in the MFA Program. Lenhart is editor-in-chief of Carbon Copy, reviews editor of DIAGRAM, and President of the Northern Arizona Book Festival.
